Choosing Your Wedding Hair Inspiration

How do you choose the perfect bridal hair for your wedding day? We know narrowing it down can be overwhelming.  Choosing the perfect wedding day hairstyle starts with finding the perfect inspiration!  Here are a few things to consider when looking for your perfect style!

The most popular spots for hair inspiration are Instagram and Pinterest.  The great thing about these sites is that you can use key words to narrow down what styles you are looking for.  Examples might be – classic updo, bohemian bride look, vintage waves or beach wedding hair. Think about the theme and style of
your wedding day and use key words for what you are looking for.  Your wedding hair should coordinate with your overall wedding aesthetic as much as anything else.

Once you have key words to search for, begin looking for inspiration photos that are similar to your own hair color.  The same updo on a head of blonde hair is going to show differently than on a brunette.  If you want to see texture and dimension in your style but have a solid hair color, consider getting a few soft and natural highlights for more depth.  Search for styles that replicate your daily hair look – but on a glam level!   If you never wear your hair in a middle part, your wedding day is not the time to try it out.

It is also important to consider your texture and length when looking at different styles.  For instance, if you have naturally curly hair you may want to consider finding someone with curly hair for inspiration.  If you have shorter hair, a long hair style or braid isn’t out of the question, but hair extensions would be necessary.  This would be an added cost you need to consider in your beauty budget.

Your dress is one of the biggest highlights of your wedding day!  Your hair should be flattering to the style and neckline of your dress.  Keep in mind any embellishments or details of your dress you may want to showcase. If you have a low neckline or open back you may feel more comfortable with more hair down.

Keep the location and weather in mind.  If your hair doesn’t hold curl well and you are having an outdoor beach ceremony, you may want to consider a style half up or all up to leave minimal touch ups and worries throughout the day.

Remember, your inspiration photos are just that – Inspiration.  Everyone has different hair texture, density
and length.  And the look you create should be unique to you!  If you feel overwhelmed or need help narrowing your style down, we are here to guide you!  Most importantly, make sure whatever hair style you choose gives you the most confidence for your special day!

Meghan, Lange Farm Wedding

We were so excited when Corey Conroy Photography referred Meghan to us! We love working with other fabulous vendors!

For Meghan's makeup, we decided on a warm smokey eye, a soft flushed cheek and a pinkish-red lip color.  Her hair was pulled back with some soft texture on top and a loose, messy chignon in the back.  We love how the pieces around her face softened her look.   Her bridal party wore mid-length navy dresses with navy and nude wedges.  They chose their own hair and makeup styles to compliment each of their personalities.
